Instructions for Capturing Using Sony HDR-HC9 Cameras
Hi everyone,
If you are shooting your video projects using the Sony HDR-HC9 handycams, here is the process for capturing your video. It’s important you follow all of these instructions or you won’t be able to get Premiere to capture!
1) Make sure the camera is off and Adobe Premiere is closed.
2) Plug the Firewire 800 cable into the back of the iMac and the other end of the cable into the camera (flap on lower left side of camera)
3) Turn on the camera to VCR/PLAY mode (press the power trigger three times)
4) On the camera viewfinder touch screen, press GUIDE.
5) On the “Select Device” screen, select “RE-CORDER”
6) On the “Select a terminal i.LINK” screen, select OK.
7) On the “Convert i.LINK HDV —> DV?” screen, select YES.
8 ) Launch Adobe Premiere. (Click “New Project” and point Premiere to your project folder)
9) In “New Sequence” window, set your sequence to HDV —> HDV 1080i30 (NOT DV NTSC)
10) From the File menu, select “Capture”. The capture window should appear and you will see “stopped” at the top of the capture window. You can then use the controls on the capture window to cue up your footage and capture.
11) Select the “Scene Detect” checkbox on the capture window, and Premiere will create a new clip each time the camera shot cuts.
